On March 26, Russian forces launched an artillery attack on the Naftogaz thermal power plant in Kherson, resulting in the death of an employee.
Oleh Korietskyi, a representative from Naftogaz, confirmed the tragic news, stating that Olga Basenko, a worker at the chemical department, was killed in the strike. He expressed condolences to her family and colleagues.
Korietskyi noted that since the onset of the full-scale war, a total of 315 Naftogaz employees have lost their lives. He condemned the repeated targeting of the Kherson facility, labeling it as a form of terrorism with no military justification.
The Naftogaz head mentioned that teams are operating at the site as safety conditions allow, coordinating their efforts with relevant services.
In a related incident, on March 8, Russian forces had previously attacked Naftogaz’s gas extraction facilities in the Poltava region with drones, disrupting operations at several critical infrastructure sites.
A recent artillery strike by Russian forces on a Naftogaz facility in Kherson resulted in the death of an employee, marking a continued pattern of attacks on critical infrastructure. The company has reported a significant loss of personnel since the start of the conflict, raising concerns over the targeting of civilian facilities.
