Russia may lose up to 100,000 to 120,000 soldiers on the front lines in the coming months if the current rate of losses continues. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. According to him, this can seriously weaken the Russian army and force the Kremlin to make new decisions, in particular regarding mobilization.
According to the president, Russia replenishes its army by approximately 40,000 men every month. But at the same time, its losses remain very high, and a significant part of the new military does not get directly to the front. “We see the rate of replenishment of the Russian army – 40 thousand people per month, and not all of them go to the front line. And we see from the amount of destruction that our military destroys 30-35 thousand occupiers – this is what Russia loses every month in killed and seriously wounded,” Zelenskyy said.
The president explained that due to such losses, the Russian army is gradually weakening especially on the front line. The number of military personnel who directly participate in battles is decreasing the most. “This number of Russian casualties will increase. That is, his army is not replenished enough. But those who stand on the first line are decreasing among them. That is, if this continues, they will lose 100-120 thousand of those who are at the “front” in a few months,” said the head of state.
According to the president, such a situation can force the Russian leadership to embark on a new wave of mobilization. He noted that this will be a serious challenge for Russian society. “What solutions? Mobilization. Then it is an irreversible process. If Putin announces a major mobilization, we understand the impact it will have on their society and on him personally. I do not believe that he will stop the war in the near future,” Zelensky explained.
The President also drew attention to the financial difficulties that Russia is already facing. According to him, there are signs that payments to the military are beginning to decrease. “They already have financial problems. In particular, we see a decrease in payments to the military. They have already stood on these rails,” he noted.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the situation at the front remains difficult, but the Ukrainian military continues to hold back the offensive and inflict significant losses on the Russian army. The level of casualties, he said, is one of the key factors affecting Russia’s ability to continue the war.
At the same time, the president emphasized that Ukraine will continue to need the support of its partners, in particular in the field of weapons and air defense, in order to protect its cities and positions at the front.
