The German defense concern Rheinmetall plans to significantly expand the production capacity of the future plant in Ukraine, which will produce 155 mm artillery shells. The company is currently under construction.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian side insisted on the doubling of the production capacity of the plant. First it was planned to produce 150 thousand shells a year, now expected that in 1-2 years the company will be able to produce up to 300 thousand ammunition annually.
The launch of the plant in Ukraine is scheduled for next year. At the same time, the company manager expressed concern because of the slow pace of implementation of the project, which he associates with the Ukrainian bureaucracy. For comparison, he gave an example of the RheinMetall plant in the German unterly, whose construction began simultaneously but has already been completed.
Production expansion should help Ukraine reduce dependence on ammunition imports and strengthen its own defense potential.
