As the local administration reported on January 30, a technological failure occurred on the main pipeline with a diameter of 500 mm from the “dnpp” boiler house, which led to a complete stoppage of heat supply on twelve streets of the city. The situation is critical, as the air temperature in the region has dropped to -17 degrees, and only two emergency teams are engaged in eliminating the breach.
This incident was already the third major utility accident in the Moscow region during January 2026, which indicates a deep systemic crisis of Russia’s energy infrastructure. Earlier, on January 17, 122 residential buildings, as well as schools and kindergartens, were left without heat and hot water in the city of Chekhov due to a leak at a substation. On January 24, a similar situation arose in Zhukovsky, where in a 20-degree frost, heating disappeared in more than 40 houses, which affected about 4 thousand townspeople.
The local prosecutor’s office once again announces the start of inspections, but the number of accidents in Russia continues to grow against the background of worn-out networks and a lack of resources for their renewal. While the Russian government spends budget funds on military aggression, residents of cities near Moscow are forced to stay in unheated apartments for weeks during peak winter frosts. There is currently no information on the timing of the completion of repair works in Dovgoprudny.
Meanwhile, the city of Engels in the Saratov region, where the strategic air base of the Russian Federation is located, was on the verge of a communal disaster. While Russian bombers take off from here for the fourth year in a row to attack Ukrainian high-rise buildings and energy facilities, local residents are forced to freeze in their own apartments due to old and damaged communications.
