Checkpoints on the border of the Lviv region with Poland are operating under conditions of increased load due to the traditional pre-New Year increase in the number of travelers on Sunday, December 28.

According to the information of the 7th border Carpathian detachment, the border guards ensure the registration of citizens both for exit from Ukraine and for entry in an enhanced mode. The biggest traffic congestion was recorded in popular destinations such as Krakow and Szegyny, where travelers have to wait longer due to the end of the Christmas week and the beginning of the holiday break.

As of 10:00 a.m., the operational situation for departure from Ukraine looks like this:

  • “Krakowets” – 25 cars and 27 buses (traditionally one of the busiest routes);
  • “Ugryniv” – 40 cars;
  • “Nyzhankovichi” – 20 cars;
  • “Rava-Ruska” and “Grushiv” – 20 cars each;
  • “Sheghini” – 10 cars and 13 buses;
  • “Smilnytsia” – there are no queues.

The situation at the western borders remains dynamic, so citizens are advised to monitor the status of queues on official resources before planning a trip. Despite the complexity of logistics in the conditions of Russian aggression, the border services are trying to speed up the inspection of documents and vehicles for unloading at checkpoints as much as possible. It is expected that high traffic intensity will remain until the beginning of January, after which the flow of passengers to Poland and back to Russia via transit routes will stabilize somewhat.

At the international checkpoint “Ustylug – Zosyn” buses and cars stand for 20 hours. The situation became complicated due to the festive flow of people going to Poland for vacation or to visit relatives.

A record daily passenger flow was recorded at checkpoints in the Lviv region — more than 75,000 citizens crossed the state border.
