German company Quantum Systems has announced an investment in the Ukrainian drone manufacturer WIY Drones, aimed at expanding the production of STRILA anti-drone systems for the National Guard of Ukraine.
While the financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, it is confirmed that Germany will fund the production of 15,000 STRILA interceptor drones to meet the operational needs of Ukraine’s National Guard.
WIY Drones specializes in the development of interceptor drones, reconnaissance UAVs, and ground control stations, alongside associated systems.
The STRILA drone is the flagship model of the company, designed to target aerial threats, including Shahed-type drones.
The drone boasts a maximum speed of 350 km/h and can reach altitudes of up to 5,000 meters. Its tactical range is 14 km, while the maximum operational distance with a payload is 28 km. The payload capacity is up to 500 grams, and it can remain airborne for up to 10 minutes while carrying a load.
Quantum Systems’ investment aims to scale up the production of STRILA drones in Ukraine to address current operational demands, with plans to potentially export surplus units.
Further details regarding the joint development and production of interceptor drones are expected to be released soon.
Sven Kruk, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems, commented on the initiative, stating that Ukrainian engineers have developed some of the most effective drone countermeasures in the world. He emphasized, “Quantum Systems is scaling these solutions to an industrial level and helping Ukraine secure its airspace.”
