President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with Fox News.
In particular, the journalist asked the head of state whether Putin is the one who can make a decision and end the war in Ukraine. Answering the question, Zelenskyi said that this is true, but the role of the US is even greater, since the head of the Kremlin is weaker than America.
“I’m sure that today it depends on Putin, a lot. He can do it. He can want and end this war. But it also depends on the United States of America, much more. Putin is weaker than the USA,” the president said.
The head of the Ukrainian state justified his words by the fact that the American leader has power, authority, weapons, and he can lower the price of energy carriers. Speaking about the last factor, Zelensky appealed to US President-elect Donald Trump, who will officially take office in two months, on January 20, 2025.
“By the way, I heard a signal in the media from President Trump that he is thinking of lowering the prices of energy sources, of oil, and this should be done,” Zelenskyy said.
The reporter then asked the president if he had any hope that Trump would be able to influence Putin to end the war. To which the head of state partially repeated and said that it will not be easy, but the newly elected president and the United States are stronger than Vladimir Putin.
“It will not be easy, but I think if we use all the opportunities that the United States has, then yes, he can, because he is much stronger than Putin. It is stronger, the United States is stronger, the economy is stronger, money, big money, the USA has a huge, very huge influence,” Zelensky summarized.
