In the High Anti-Corruption Court, the case of the ex-deputy head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, Volodymyr Orlov, reached the finish line. During the session, on January 9, the court officially entered the debate stage. The prosecution voiced its position: the prosecutor requests that Orlov be found guilty of corruption and sentenced to 10 years in prison with full confiscation of property.
The case concerns the events of a year ago, when Orlov was accused of allegedly asking for 200,000 US dollars for assistance in leasing a forest plot with an area of 19 hectares. Despite the gravity of the article, the defense emphasizes that during the entire investigation, the fact of transferring funds or causing real losses to the state was never established. The defendant himself denies guilt and calls the process “legal nonsense.”
The next meeting, where the defense side will speak, is scheduled for January 22. Volodymyr Orlov stated that he is not going to prolong the proceedings and insists on a quick verdict, as he considers the case fabricated. He is currently on bail, which was previously set at 22 million hryvnias.
Earlier, The administrative court of cassation as part of the Supreme Court had to put an end to it case No. 990/80/25. This is Petro Poroshenko’s lawsuit against Volodymyr Zelenskyi, in which the fifth president is trying cancel the decree on NSDC sanctions introduced against him almost a year ago. It was expected that this meeting would be the final one in the process, the evidence was supposed to be considered, but nothing happened, since the defendant did not appear at the meeting.
