“Start: Social Entrepreneurship at the Youth Center” – the initiative of the Youth Platform organization together with School of Me, which aims to strengthen the financial stability of youth centers of Ukraine through the launch of social enterprises. Over the last year, representatives of eight youth centers from all over Ukraine have been trained, created business plans and implemented their own social business projects with the support of experts and mentors.
Each youth center received a grant of 15 thousand euros for the implementation of their business ideas. As a result, the necessary initiatives appeared in the communities: the space of scientific exhibits in Ternopil, a pottery workshop in Kovel, an eco -station of printing in Bucha, a laboratory of water quality in Lviv, a photo studio in the Dnieper and a number of others that contribute to the development of the local youth community.
During the final event, the founders of social businesses were outlined in detail their own business models, challenges and prospects for scaling their entrepreneurial initiatives. The event became a platform for netting, exchange of experience and ideas aimed at the development of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine.
Participants and organizers of the project emphasize that social business becomes not only a source of income, but also a platform to attract young people in active public life. In addition, the profit of social enterprises is directed to support the activities of youth centers, or the implementation of youth programs in the regions of Ukraine.
According to the results of the event, the organizers have developed recommendations for the authorities aimed at scaling social entrepreneurship in Ukraine.
The event was held within the project “EU4YOUT PHASE III – STREEGTHENING SUSTAINability and Social Inclusion of Young People” in partnership with the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania, the CPVA Lithuanian Agency with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the EU.
