After the massive Russian missile attack on the night of November 8, the situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains difficult.
This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov on the air of the telethon.
According to him, this attack was one of the most difficult for the energy sector since the beginning of the full-scale war. The enemy attacked mainly with ballistic missiles, which are extremely difficult to shoot down. Of the 45 missiles launched during the attack, 32 were ballistic in nature.
“Energy workers work non-stop, but it takes time to stabilize the system,” Nekrasov said.
Currently, there are hourly power outages for all categories of consumers in most regions of the country. The most difficult situation is observed in Kharkiv, Sumy and Poltava regions. In the rest of the regions, schedules of restrictions up to two and a half queues are applied.
Due to the previous shelling, certain areas in Dnipropetrovsk region, Donetsk region, Kharkiv region and Chernihiv region remain without power. Restoration work is being carried out in compliance with safety requirements and only after permission from the military.
The Ministry of Energy called on Ukrainians to limit the use of household appliances during peak hours – from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Transferring energy-intensive processes to the time after 22:00 will help reduce the load on the system and accelerate its stabilization.
On the night of November 8, Russia launched a massive combined attack on the territory of Ukraine, using attack drones and missiles of various types. The energy infrastructure has traditionally been the main target of strikes.
Due to shelling, emergency power outage schedules were introduced in a number of regions, and Kremenchuk was temporarily left without electricity.
As PJSC “Centrenergo” reported, the enemy struck their thermal power plants with the most powerful blow since the beginning of the full-scale war. As a result, both TPPs stopped working and currently do not produce electricity.
DTEK also announced an attack on one of its thermal power plants. The name of the facility is not being released for security reasons, but it is known that the power equipment suffered serious damage.
In Ukraine on Sunday, November 9, outages will increase significantly. Volumes and durations will increase, and schedules will operate in most regions. In addition, on November 8, they are applied until the end of the day.
