Portugal, as part of military aid, transferred eight SA-330 helicopters to Ukraine at the end of 2024.

The relevant information on the transfer was published in the document on the assistance provided to Ukraine and confirmed by the Minister of Defense of Portugal.

These helicopters were decommissioned in 2012 and in 2014 for sale.

According to the portal militaristic, the Portuguese SA-330 Puma is equipped with modern fire control systems, which allows to use the anti-ship missiles ExOCET.

Like British and German Sea King, they have a considerable age, because they were operated from 1970 to 2009, including during colonial wars in North Africa. The latest missions of these helicopters included personnel transportation and search and rescue operations both on the mainland and in the overseas territories.

In total, Portugal purchased 13 helicopters of this type, which in the 2010s replaced with modern EH-101 Merlin British-Italian production.
