The mayor of the city, Andriy Sadovy, announced this.
“It is up to the law enforcement agencies to define all the events taking place in Lviv this week. You and I record what we see,” he said.
The mayor recalled that the week began with the fact that unknown persons smashed one of the city’s central cafes. On the night of September 18, someone set fire to 8 objects in the city at once, among them was the building of the “Dzvin” cinema.
“Further, anonymous Telegram channels began to spread information with threats about terrorist attacks. At the moment, no one can say for sure whether these are IPSOs or real threats. One thing is clear – this is not the first time that they try to intimidate us through Telegram. But the mind must remain cold. We should not give in to provocations. Let’s not forget that we have a war and it is also an information war,” Sadovy noted.
He said that the law enforcement officers have already started implementing a number of security measures on the territory of the city’s schools. However, tomorrow, at the entrance to each school, a police officer and a school representative will check everyone entering the facilities.
“Only the police, school employees and students can enter the educational institution. As soon as more information becomes available, it will be published on the official pages, not in anonymous channels!” – explained the mayor of Lviv.
He noted that Facebook and Instagram block dangerous posts and messages faster than Telegram.
“We really need to start a serious conversation about rejecting this messenger at all levels. I am convinced that there is no such platform on which Ukrainians would not be able to organize large gatherings. I’ll just remind you of what started the Revolution of Dignity,” said Sadovy.
He called on all leaders of public opinion to join this discussion.
“I realize that I am writing this in the Telegram channel, which will obviously also have to be deleted when we come to this together,” he summarized.
Before that, it became known that terrorist attacks in Lviv were announced in the Telegram channel administered from Russia. The unidentified man said he was going to go around “21 schools and one mall with accomplices” to shoot the kids he hates.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has already reported that this channel has been blocked. More than 2,500 users subscribed to it.
