The Odessa District Police Department has initiated a pre -trial investigation into the facts of obstruction of the legitimate activity of journalists of the UA.News information agency, which are investigating the facts of corruption of the former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmitry Verbitsky. It should be reminded that he was dismissed from a responsible position after significant public resonance on probable illegal enrichment.
On April 22, the Odessa RUP No. 1 of the SUNP in the Odessa region included information in the Unified Register of Pre -trial Investigations and the pre -trial investigation in criminal proceedings No. 12025164480000220 was launched, after the obstruction of the legal professional activity of journalists, which was made by a group of persons.
As reported in advance, in connection with the coverage on advertising media (billboards) in different cities of Ukraine, in particular in Odessa information about the ex-deputy prosecutor of Verbitsky, starting in March UA.news journalists began to receive phone calls of unknown persons. These persons demand to stop publications and delete information about Verbitsky.
In addition, in the second half of March 2025, persons who were likely to act probably in the interests of Verbitsky were damaged by advertising media (billboards) in the territory of the Kiev district of Odessa. These billboards cover information on the results of investigations into the former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
After these illegal actions, representatives of the news agency were prepared and filed with the law enforcement agencies (police). In connection with the inaction, which can be related to the peculiar influence of the former Verbitsky high -ranking official in the Odessa community, the court decision in case No. 947/12405/25 was also obtained, which actually established violated rights of UA.News journalists and the law enforcement agencies.
It should be reminded that the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) revealed signs of corruption criminal offense in the actions of Verbitsky. New evidence testifies to its illegal enrichment of almost UAH 29 million.
Following the publication of these facts, the National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) initiated criminal proceedings against possible illegal enrichment of Verbitsky.

On May 1, the Pechersk Court of Kiev was to consider Dmitry Verbitsky’s claim against NAPC. The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv postponed the hearing of the lawsuit of the ex-deputy of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmitry Verbitsky against the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NACC). The participants of the trial were told in a comment to journalists. The date of the next meeting is unknown.
