In Poland, a scandal broke out after the statement of one of the leaders of the presidential race – the mayor of Warsaw Rafala Tshaskovsky.
About it reports PAP.
During his public speech, he stressed that Russia poses a direct threat to the European Union, and Ukraine, in his opinion, should become a “buffer zone” between the West and the Russian Federation.
Such words of politics have caused a wave of indignation in both Polish society and among Ukrainians who carefully monitor Warsaw’s position on war and security in the region.
Thaskovsky emphasized that the issue of peace in Ukraine should be resolved on fair conditions. He also noted that it is important to convey to US President Donald Trump.
According to the candidate, it is necessary not only to take pictures with the American leader, but to openly discuss with him the future of Ukraine and the security situation in Eastern Europe.
Particular attention was paid to the politician that Putin’s dictator understands only the “language of power”, so Poland should strengthen its defense capability.
The Presidential Elections in Poland are scheduled for May 18, 2025. If none of the candidates gain more than 50% of the vote in the first round, the second round will take place on June 1.
The current President Andrzej Duda has no right to run for the third time, since the Constitution limits two cadences in this position.
Among the main contenders for the presidential chair – Karol Navrotsky, which is supported by the Law and Justice Party, Rafal Tshaskovsky from the Civic Coalition and Slavomir Menzen, representing the Confederation.
We will remind, the Ministry of Defense of Poland categorically rejected the possibility of participation of Polish soldiers in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, which was proposed by a special US messenger, General Kit Kellogg.
We have also reported that the Head of the Polish Government Donald Tusk stated that Poland has started working on the development of the Slavku railway terminal in the Silesian Voivodeship (South of the Country). This will help in the future reconstruction of Ukraine.
