Law enforcement officers reported the suspicion of five persons involved in the theft of state funds allocated for the construction of the water supply after the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Among the suspects is the owner and representative of one of the leading road companies of Ukraine, as well as engineering and technical workers of enterprises.
According to the investigation, during the execution of the contract for the restoration of critical infrastructure – the construction of the water supply river Ingulets – Southern Reservoir to provide Kryvyi Rih with water – the participants of the scheme purchased building materials through controlled firms with overpaid more than 40% of market value. To cover illegal activities, they prepared commercial offers with artificially inflated prices that were included in the reporting and acts of work performed.
According to experts, the amount of losses exceeds UAH 240 million.
During the searches in offices and at the places of residence of the suspects, documentation, equipment and other evidence confirming the fact of the crime were removed.
The issue of choosing precautions for the persons involved in the case is currently being resolved.
