State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) detained the commander of one of the companies of the 155th separate mechanized brigade, Anna Kyivska, who went to the SZCH, and also incited the fighters to this decision. This was reported in the department on Wednesday, January 8.

The man was detained on January 8 in the Rivne region. According to the investigation, at the end of 2024, the senior lieutenant did not comply with the order to transfer the company headed by him to the operational subordination of another unit. Instead, he ordered the soldiers to flee without weapons and voluntarily left the place of duty.

As the SBI added, the military man was taken to Kyiv, where they reported suspicion of arbitrarily leaving the place of duty and refusing to comply with an order (Part 4 of Art. 402, Part 5 of Art. 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The court chose a preventive measure for the man in the form of detention with an alternative to bail.

On January 6, a representative of the French army confirmed that several dozen Ukrainian soldiers who were trained in France had deserted, but this phenomenon did not become widespread.

The scandal surrounding the 155th brigade – what is known

On December 31, Censor.Net editor-in-chief Yuriy Butusov wrote about the problems of the 155th mechanized brigade of Anna Kyivska. According to him, before the first battle, 1,700 soldiers voluntarily left it, the commander was dismissed immediately after the battle, and one of the leaders responsible for the formation of the brigade died of a heart attack.

According to Butusov, the cost of creating a new brigade in France is estimated at 900 million euros. He claims that only during training abroad, at the stage of formation of the brigade, 50 servicemen voluntarily left it.

Communications adviser of the State Bureau of Investigation, Tetyana Sapyan, said that the SBI began investigating the data published by Butusov regarding the 155th mechanized brigade Anna Kyivska.

The case is being investigated under articles of abuse of authority and desertion.

On January 5, Butusov reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi took the situation around the 155th OMBr Anna Kyivska under personal control during the Staff of the Supreme Commander.
