In Ukraine, there is an increase in prices for high-quality carrots. One of the reasons was the increase in trading activity. This was reported by the analysts of the EastFruit project.
Producers noted that carrots are now being actively purchased by both wholesale companies, which store them, and the population, which forms stocks for the winter. Also, the sales of retail networks remain quite stable.
Thus, as of October 31, farmers in the main production regions shipped high-quality carrots at UAH 18-25/kg ($0.16-0.22/kg), which is on average 12% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
According to industry experts, the trend of price growth is observed exclusively in the segment of high-quality carrots, which are purchased for storage.
Analysts added that now the price of quality carrots in Ukraine is on average 3.3 times higher than in the same period in 2023. But some producers plan to continue raising prices for carrots, provided the current sales rates are maintained.
We wrote earlier that at the beginning of November, potato prices rose to UAH 8-12/kg ($0.22-0.33/kg), which is on average 17% more expensive than at the end of the previous working week.
A month later, the situation has not changed. As reported, potato prices continue to rise in Ukraine. Market operators attribute this to increased demand from wholesale companies and retail chains, which continue to purchase potatoes for long-term storage.
We will remind, according to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, a significant increase in prices for the main products of the “borscht set” this season should not be expected.
