On New Year’s Eve in Ukraine, with a high probability, the usual schedules of hourly power outages will be applied.
Anatoliy Zamulko, head of the State Energy Inspection, stated this on the air of the telethon.
According to him, energy experts are currently cautious about any forecasts, as the energy system remains vulnerable due to possible Russian attacks and a drop in air temperature.
At the same time, a partial increase in electricity supply is possible during the period of nighttime network load reduction. However, the final situation will depend on security factors.
“If we reach our normal schedules when the temperature drops and with the available capacities, and they are predicted and correctly applied, this will be the most acceptable option,” Zamulko said.
He explained that on New Year’s Eve, a decline in electricity consumption is traditionally recorded, which can allow for a temporary increase in the amount of light supplied to consumers.
At the same time, the official emphasized that the key factor remains Russia’s actions in the coming days.
“We don’t know how the enemy will act from Wednesday to Thursday. And if we come to the usual forecasted schedules of restrictions, this will probably be quite a correct question and a correct decision for today,” concluded the head of the State Energy Inspectorate.
Today, December 30, there are both emergency and scheduled power outages in Ukraine. They are introduced due to Russian attacks on critical energy infrastructure.
