Gripen of the latest modification, which was discussed during Zelenskyi’s visit to Sweden, is one of the best fighters in the world.
As early as 2022-2023, conversations began that we do not have enough Soviet aircraft, we need others. And I wrote back then: we need to turn to Sweden!
Gripen – they are almost made for us, they are very easy to maintain, multifunctional, it is a good prospect. But their production is difficult, and the number of orders greatly exceeds production capabilities. That is, Saab cannot now fulfill the existing contracts either for Sweden or for Brazil. And we, it turns out, fall all the way to the third line of this order.
So with regard to 120-150 aircraft, this is a very distant future. May God live to see him. A lot can change here. But Gripen of the old modification, 15-20 aircraft, which are expected in the near future – they will be very useful and would be of great help in our situation.
Therefore, we divide the situation into two parts: Gripen, which we can get already next year, but not new ones – this is very good. But what will happen in 10-15 years is a completely different story, and we still have to live to see it, as they say.
