Fuel oil pollution along the coast of the Crimean Peninsula is moving towards Yalta, where fuel oil spills may occur on the shore. Residents of coastal settlements find birds affected by fuel oil on the shore along the direction of the fuel oil plume.

The correspondent of Krym.Realii reports.

According to the information of a group of scientists led by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Serhiy Zatsep, the spot of pollution goes to the Southwest, bypassing Feodosia Bay, Sudak and Alushta straight to Yalta.

“Now, in all coastal settlements, local administrations hold unscheduled meetings of commissions on the prevention and elimination of emergency situations, dedicated to the situation with the development of man-made disasters. Birds affected by fuel oil are already found at the PBK. An algorithm has been developed to provide assistance to birds and animals affected by a fuel oil spill. Birds from the coast of PBK are delivered to the Yalta Zoo “Fairytale”. Unfortunately, after providing them with help, they intend to release them again, where there is a high probability of a new attack by fuel oil. Volunteers and ecologists document cases of damage to birds, so that later, together with lawyers, they will have grounds for filing lawsuits against the perpetrators of the disaster. People are not ready to leave them unpunished. Also, preliminary work is already underway to prepare collective lawsuits from the affected tourism business to the management of the company that owns the sunken tankers,” a Crimean activist told Krym.Realia on condition of anonymity.

The Russian authorities of the annexed Crimea introduced a regime of man-made emergency of a regional nature due to a large-scale fuel oil spill in the Black Sea.

It will be recalled that on December 15, two Russian oil tankers, Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, sank near the coast in the Kerch Strait. As a result of the accident, more than 4,000 tons of water spilled into the Black Sea. tons of fuel oil.

We also wrote that, according to the Navy of Ukraine, the Russian tankers with oil products were old and, moreover, went out to sea without complying with shipping requirements.

Oil products, which leaked after the accident of Russian tankers in the Kerch Strait, are already being recorded on the southern coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea.
