On this date, October 29, the Day of the military financier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Day of workers of the non-departmental security service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine are celebrated.
The holiday of military financiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was established in 1999 by order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine with the aim of increasing the authority of military personnel working in financial and economic bodies, as well as strengthening the prestige of the financial service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a whole. It was on October 29, 1991 that the Financial Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was created, which became an important milestone in the history of the country’s financial service.
On October 29, every year in Ukraine, the Day of workers of the non-departmental protection service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is celebrated. This professional holiday is dedicated to employees who serve in the chain of protection of objects, not belonging to other departments – the so-called non-departmental security. Historically, the non-agency security service was formed during the Soviet period: the introduction of lateral security of economic facilities was approved in 1952 by a corresponding decree. In modern Ukraine, this service is an integral part of the security system — from the protection of state institutions, enterprises, infrastructure to private objects of public importance.

Today, October 29, in the Orthodox calendar is the day of memory of the holy reverend martyr Anastasia. St. Anastasia was born in Rome in the family of Senator Pretextatus. Father was a pagan, and Faust’s mother was a secret Christian. Her daughter was brought up by Saint Chrysogon, who taught her the Holy Scriptures and Christian commandments. Thanks to this, Anastasia grew up a wise and pious virgin. After her mother’s death, her father gave her in marriage to the pagan Pomplius. However, Anastasia, trying to maintain purity, avoided marital duties under the pretext of illness. During the persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian, Saint Anastasia visited prisons where Christians were held and helped them: she fed them, bandaged wounds, and supported them in spirit. She also contributed to the conversion of pagans to Christianity.
Anastasia was arrested for her faith. After numerous tortures, she was executed. However, even after her death, her name became a symbol of courage and faith. Her relics became the source of numerous miracles and healings.
