The UN Development Program (UNDP), together with the Government of Norway, launched a large -scale initiative worth $ 200 million aimed at transformation of Ukraine’s energy sector.

This initiative envisages both prompt response to the current crisis and long -term modernization of the Ukrainian energy system in accordance with its national priorities.
“This contribution of Norway through UNDP is critical for our ability to restore vital services, rebuild damaged infrastructure and accelerate a strategic transition to a decentralized and environmentally friendly energy system,” said Ministry of Energy Head.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Kingdom of Norway Cessili March has confirmed the unwavering support of Ukraine by Norway, especially on constant challenges for its energy infrastructure.
The new initiative will provide:

Restoration of heat and water supply for millions of people, including vulnerable population groups in frontline communities.

Equipment of hospitals and water supply companies with solar panels and backup battery systems for preserving critical services during electricity shutdown.
In addition, during the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, Norway Representatives announced the allocation of EUR 42 million to the Energy Support Fund.
“These funds will be an important help to repair damaged energy facilities, strengthen the protection of infrastructure from Russian attacks and develop a more permanent and decentralized power system of Ukraine,” the Ministry of Energy said.
An agreement to allocate € 300,000 was also concluded to support energy with the International Financial Organization of NEFCO, which supports green growth investments and finances projects to improve energy efficiency and net energy production.
This significant financial support emphasizes international solidarity with Ukraine in its efforts to restore and modernize the energy sector.
We will remind, the conference on the restoration of Ukraine in the Italian capital ended with the signing of about 200 agreements totaling more than 10 billion euros.
