This year, the North Atlantic Alliance tripled its presence in Ukraine and plans to strengthen it even more.

This was announced by the head of the NATO Representation in Ukraine, Patrick Turner.

“You know that NATO has been present here in one form or another for 26 years. These were different forms: the Communications Office, the Information and Documentation Center, but now we are the NATO Representative Office. This year, NATO’s presence here has tripled, and we plan to further strengthen it next year,” Interfax-Ukraine quotes Turner as saying.

According to the official, such intentions correspond to some of the main decisions of the Washington summit of NATO this summer, and at the same time reflect the decisions made before the summit. Turner explained that such a presence is intended to represent the NATO headquarters in its entirety and to be a link between the headquarters and Ukraine.

In total, about 20 more officials may join the team of the Representation.

Earlier, we wrote, with reference to the Washington Post, that European countries can send their troops to Ukraine, but they will not act as NATO troops, because this requires the consent of all members of the Alliance.
