Ukraine can get a considerable amount of air defense, missiles and ammunition systems within a new US and NATO agreement.

This was reported by the newly appointed Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte at a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump.

Rutte said that the initiative came directly from Trump, who in a telephone conversation confirmed his willingness to support Ukraine with all the necessary resources for defense against Russian aggression. At the same time, the White House Head emphasized that the United States is expecting more active participation of European partners in financing support.

According to the Secretary General, the NATO summit agreed to significantly increase the defensive costs – to 5% – and to increase weapons production. Among the countries that have already confirmed the willingness to join the help package to Ukraine, Rutte called Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Canada.

“This is only the first wave. We will coordinate efforts through NATO structures to know exactly what Ukraine needs, and to provide it on an appropriate scale, ”he said.

Rutte also commented on a deadline at 50 days, which the US President has established for Moscow to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine. “If I were Putin, when he heard your words, I would think seriously about participating in the negotiations,” NATO Secretary General.

Earlier, we wrote that Ukraine can receive a large number of weapons from the United States, which will be paid by other NATO countries.

US President Donald Trump has promised to introduce harsh tariffs against the Russian Federation and its partners, unless an agreement on Ukraine is reached.
