On September 8, Christians of the Eastern Rite celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary – one of the great church holidays, which is also called the Purist Second.

According to biblical traditions, the Virgin Mary, the future mother of Jesus Christ, was born that day.

There are some restrictions on this day. In particular, it is forbidden to engage in heavy physical labor, clean, wash, sew or carry out repairs.

You should also refrain from swearing, lucky and gossip and not denying alms to those who ask for it.

Many folk signs are associated with the holiday, especially the weather. The sunny day for the second Purist promises a warm and clear autumn, while the gloomy sky – to the fast cold and rains.

There was also a ritual to protect against “evil eyes” and diseases – for this purpose they burned old clothes and shoes.

We will remind, on September 7, 2025, we celebrated the Day of Military Intelligence of Ukraine.

Also on September 5, 2025, the International Charity Day and World Tourist Journalists are celebrated.
