Naftogaz of Ukraine and the European Investment Bank have signed an agreement on attracting EUR 300 million credit for gas purchases.
The document was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Sergey Koretsky and the Head of the EIB team on investment in Ukraine Matteo Rivlin.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Alexei Sobolev and the European Commissioner on the Extension of Martha Kos.
“The goal is to ensure the purchase of Naftogaz of Blue Fuel for their needs during the heating season. Today we have started a long -term partnership with Naftogaz, ”Rivlin said.
The loan will be provided under the guarantees of the European Union. Naftogaz, in turn, undertakes to reinvest the amount equivalent to the EIB loan, into renewable energy and decarbonization projects.
“This is another practical assistance of the international financial institution for the next heating season, maintaining energy stability in Ukraine. I sincerely thank the partners, especially the EIB, for this beginning of the common path, ”Koretsky said.
At a briefing, after the signing ceremony, he explained that the purchase of gas would be held on the EBRD platform with verified suppliers. The allocated funds will be enough for the purchase of 600 million cubic meters of gas.
Recall that Naftogaz and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development have signed a record for Ukraine for 500 million euros for Ukraine.
We will remind, “Naftogaz of Ukraine” for another year will continue to supply gas for Ukrainian families at a constant price – 7.96 UAH per cubic meter.
Naftogaz of Ukraine also concluded a loan agreement with the state “Ukrgasbank” for gas purchases.
