The National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) initiated petitions for the election of precautions for persons suspected of stealing budgetary funds during the purchase of food for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by Alexander Abakumov, the head of the first main unit of NABU detectives, on the air of Radio Liberty.
According to Abakumov, the investigation requires detention with the possibility of bail for most suspects. The final decision on precautionary measures will be made by the court.
Currently, four of the five suspicious people are in Ukraine. Another person, the beneficial owner of the suppliers of products, is abroad.
Abakumov said that a special procedure will be applied to this person: the announcement in the international wanted list, and in the event of a noon, a special pre -trial investigation.
The pre -trial investigation is ongoing and investigators continue to collect evidence.
On April 2, NABU and Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported on the exposing of a large -scale theft of funds in the amount of more than UAH 733 million.
According to the investigation, in 2022–2023, two companies, controlled by one owner, made a profit through manipulation of the procurement of so -called “sets of products”. The catalog included 409 positions, most of which were almost not ordered.
Among the suspects is the former head of the Department of Defense of Ukraine, the owner of the suppliers and heads of firms.
Their actions qualify under the articles on waste, attempting to waste and legalize illegal income.

The National Advocates of Ukraine appealed to the Office of the Prosecutor General and the State Bureau of Investigation with a statement of offense by NABU detectives.
