NABU told that in August 2023, the SBU received information on the possible risks related to one of the employees of the bureau. It was stated that during the period of service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (2012–2015, that is, before work at NABU), the employee transferred information about the citizens of Ukraine by e -mail to one of the employees of the State Security Department (UDO).
The materials stated that UDO representative held positions in the SBU until 2012, and from 2012 to 2014 he headed one of the units within the Presidential Security Service as part of UDO. According to the SBU, after the annexation of Crimea, he went to the side Russian Federation and since 2020 works in FSO Russian Federation .
The National Bureau was immediately included in the circumstances. Within the working interaction between NABU and the SBU, an additional inspection was organized with the participation of identified employees of NABU and one of the heads of the SBU units.
“No evidence or evidence was found to be aware of the connection of UDO representative with Russian special services during a joint verification. Moreover, NABU initiated a survey of an employee in order to make a decision on his further service or possible disciplinary liability. However, the SBU persistently recommended to refrain from any action, so as not to interfere with their prompt work on other connections of the former UDO employee.
