The international organization “Doctors without Borders” (MSF) together with Ukrainian doctors provided assistance to the victims after the attack on the bus of the DTEK energy holding in Dnipropetrovsk region.
This was reported to MSF.
After receiving the report about the incident, the team of the organization immediately went to the hospital in Dnipropetrovsk region, which was receiving the wounded.
16 seriously injured patients with blast injuries were brought to the hospital, many of whom suffered amputations of arms and legs, fractures and critical injuries to the head, chest and abdomen.
” Our team worked together with state doctors. All operating rooms were involved. We worked until 10 o’clock in the evening, all patients were stabilized, they remained alive,” said MSF anesthesiologist Maria Khvalbota.
One of the seriously injured was evacuated to Dnipro on artificial lung ventilation, receiving vital assistance during transportation.
MSF noted that hospitals on the front lines are constantly facing a large influx of wounded and staff shortages. Supporting the organization helps save lives when every minute counts.
As reported, the attack took place in Ternivka (Dnipropetrovsk region), approximately 65 km from the front line. During the attack, several Russian drones fired at the road along which the bus carrying mine workers was traveling.
As a result of the incident, 12 civilians were killed and 16 more were injured. Among the victims were also other people in cars nearby and those who tried to render aid after the first explosion.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine confirmed the fact of the attack after visiting the scene and interviewing witnesses.
