Over 40% residents of Transcarpathia do not believe in secret agreements between Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding the region. This is evidenced by the results of the fund’s survey “Democratic initiatives” jointly with the Center of Political Sociology, conducted on the order of the Institute of Central European Strategy.

42.8% of respondents consider the rumors about Orban’s agreement with Putin to avoid shelling Transcarpathia to be false. 26.5% believe it, and 30.7% are undecided.
Also, 45.8% do not agree with the statement that Hungary is allegedly planning to seize Transcarpathia after the Russian attack, while 20.5% believe it is possible.
The survey was conducted from October 17 to 28, 2025 among 1002 residents of the region.
