Kyivstar CEO Oleksandr Komarov reported that on the morning of November 20, more than 30% of the operator’s network remained without electricity. In addition, five regional technological centers worked on generators.

Oleksandr Komarov wrote about this on Facebook.

“Today is a very difficult day. One of the most difficult since the summer of 2024. As of 9 a.m., more than 30 percent of the grid is without power, almost evenly across the country. 5 regional technology centers on generators,” said Komarov.

He urged subscribers to take care of the backup power supply of routers.

“A power bank, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or a charging station is enough,” explained the head of the company.

Komarov noted that currently only 15-20% of “Home Internet” subscribers have secured backup power, while during the previous blackout in the Poltava region this figure was only 2%.

“And then everything is interconnected: users switch to mobile Internet, the load on base stations increases, the time of their autonomous operation decreases, the quality of mobile communication and the speed of data transmission deteriorate,” Komarov added.

He reminded that the company has prepared more than 80,000 LiFePO4 batteries in advance, investing about UAH 300 million in 2024-2025 to ensure up to 12 hours of autonomous operation of a fixed network.

As a reminder, more than half of bank branches in Ukraine are integrated into the POWER BANKING network, which allows for uninterrupted operation even during large-scale power outages.
