On Friday, November 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree implementing the NSDC’s decision to deprive 34 traitors of Ukraine of state awards.

This is stated on the president’s website.

The list of traitors includes former government officials, people’s deputies, heads of the Security Service of Ukraine and the General Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutors, artists, Russian political, religious and cultural figures. All of them are deprived of state awards of Ukraine indefinitely. The maximum set of sanctions — 21 types — was applied to ten traitors.

This is not only about the deprivation of state awards of Ukraine, but also, in particular, about the blocking of assets, the cancellation of licenses and permits, and the complete cessation of trade operations, the press service of the president added.

Sanctions were applied to seven of them for the first time. In particular, this is the former first deputy leader of the Party of Regions, the head of the relevant parliamentary faction Oleksandr Yefremov, who had the Order of Merit I-III degrees and Prince Yaroslav the Wise V degree. He is also the former First Deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin, who had Orders of Merit II-III degrees and the title of Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.

Eight persons who are already under other sanctions of Ukraine have been deprived of state awards of Ukraine. This is a former People’s Deputy of the II-IV and IX convocations Viktor Medvedchuk, who was previously awarded the Order of Merit of the I-III degrees and Prince Yaroslav the Wise V degree, had the title of Honored Lawyer of Ukraine. He is also the former Minister of Education and Science (2010−2014) Dmytro Tabachnyk, who had orders of Prince Yaroslav the Wise IV-V degrees and the title Honored Worker of Science and Technology.

Deprived of awards and former prime minister (2010−2014) Mykola Azarov, who was awarded the Order of Merit I-III degrees and Prince Yaroslav the Wise V degree, and also had the title of Honored Economist of Ukraine. In addition, the former Prosecutor General was also deprived of the state award of Ukraine (2010−2014) Viktor Pshonka, who had the Order of Merit III degree. He is also a former People’s Deputy of the III-IX convocations Andriy Derkach, who had the Order of Merit of the III degree.

The list includes Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church and former KGB agent, who was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 1st degree.

Russian singers Mykola Baskov, Philip Kirkorov, Oleksandr Malinin, Russian composer Ihor Krutoy, and singer Karolina Kuyek were deprived of the honorary title of People’s Artist of Ukraine (Ani Lorak) and Taisia ​​Povaliy — also the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.

On November 20, the Verkhovna Rada generally supported the draft law on the deprivation of state awards for those who committed illegal actions against Ukraine.

According to the draft law, state awards, including the title of Hero of Ukraine, Orders of Merit and others, will be withdrawn from those who he did not choose Ukraine for himself – he chose an enemy and now supports Russia in one way or another, or is generally on its territory.”
