After his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ was among his disciples for forty days, strengthening their faith and preparing for the grace of the Holy Spirit. During this period he was the apostles and spoke to them, continued to teach them about the Kingdom of Heaven. Each appearance of Christ brought pleasure and hope for his followers, because they saw that their teacher really defeated death.
On the fortieth day after the Resurrection, Christ gathered his apostles on Mount Eleon near Jerusalem. This place was of particular importance, because Jesus often prayed here, and it was here that his suffering began on the eve of crucifixion. On this sacred mountain, the Savior gave his students the last guidelines. After that, Jesus began to climb to heaven, and the apostles watched this miracle. At this point, two angels appeared in white dresses, who said to the apostles: “Why are you standing and looking at the sky? Jesus, who was taken from you to heaven, will come just as you saw him that went to heaven. ” After the Ascension, the Apostle returned to Jerusalem.
International holidays on May 29 2025
On May 29, the International Day of Peacekeepers of the United Nations, which is also called “blue helmets” is celebrated. Unlike international military formations such as NATO, UN peacekeepers are not fighting in the usual sense of the word. The goal is to save lives and rebuild what has been destroyed.
The International Day of the UN peacekeepers was declared the General Assembly of the Organization in 2002. However, it all started much earlier. It was on May 29, 1948 that the first peacekeeping mission was established on the initiative of the UN Security Council. Then there was one task before the newly created mission – to alleviate the suffering of the population at hostilities, as well as to take an active part in reconciliation of enemies.
Also May 29 is celebrated World Cow Day, known as herdsday. It is an unofficial holiday that is proposed to celebrate on the last Thursday of May. This day is dedicated to honoring cows in all their forms, colors and sizes, emphasizing their important role in agriculture, culture and daily lives of people. This day is honored by our majestic breadwinners who, according to the initiators, deserve their holiday.
