Lithuania will allocate more than €14.5 million to Ukraine for the restoration of schools, orphanages and medical laboratories

On Wednesday, January 28, the Lithuanian government approved four projects aimed at the recovery of Ukraine, which will be financed from the Fund for the Development of Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid. The total amount of support is more than 14.5 million euros. This is reported by LRT. Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginene emphasized: “I am glad that our promises and agreements are being implemented. On Wednesday, January 28, the Lithuanian government approved four projects aimed at the recovery of Ukraine, which will be financed from the Fund for the Development of Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid. The total amount of support is more than 14.5 million euros.

Prime Minister of Lithuania Inga Ruginene emphasized: “I am glad that our promises and agreements are being implemented. Lithuania’s participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine is very important for all of us, and I am glad that Lithuania is increasingly contributing to this with various projects and concrete solutions.”

Main areas of financing:

  • Project “Schools of the Future in Ukraine” – 5 million euros, of which 500,000 will come from Ireland. The technical architectural design and restoration of the school in Zhytomyr, which was destroyed in 2023, is planned, as well as the construction of an underground multifunctional shelter. The duration of the implementation of the first stage is 18 months.

  • “Children first” project. Protecting the future of Ukraine” – 5 million euros. The reconstruction of the “Boyarka” orphanage for the creation of a Center for the return of children and families, the construction of 10 modular premises in Irpen for the medium-term residence of up to 80 children per year, the purchase of 19 cars for foster families, as well as the creation of a child rehabilitation and mental health center in Lviv are planned. Half of the funds will come from the representative office of Taiwan in Lithuania. The implementation of the project is planned for 22 months.

  • Reconstruction of the “Green Grove” school in Mykolaiv – the second stage, for which almost 4 million euros are allocated.

  • Modernization of the DNA laboratory in Poltava – 800 thousand euros.

These initiatives are aimed at restoring the educational, social and medical infrastructure of Ukraine, damaged as a result of Russian aggression.
