Due to the Russian attack on the Darnytsia CHP plant, a critical heating situation arose in Kyiv. Some houses without heat are provided with more light. Energy engineers are already working on restoration and are preparing new facilities for heat and electricity generation, it is reported Ministry of Energy of Ukraine in Telegram.
The area served by CHP-4 was the most affected. It will not be possible to restore heat supply there in the near future. “That’s why energy companies strive to provide improved power supply schedules. In total, 64 repair crews were involved in the restoration of electricity supply in the city today,” the Ministry of Energy reported.
To compensate for the loss of heat, the electricity supply schedules are changed in the city. Part of the houses will receive more light so that people can function normally in difficult conditions. Work on distributed generation is also ongoing. In the near future, it is planned to launch gas cogeneration plants with a capacity of 9 MW and 18 MW. “Along with the launch, the provision of physical protection of these objects remains a critically important issue,” the agency emphasized.
Kyiv also receives international aid. This week, 596 tons of humanitarian cargo will arrive in Ukraine through the emergency energy aid hub. It includes transformers, isolators, generators and other critical equipment. The load will be distributed among energy companies, local authorities and critical infrastructure facilities across the country.
Despite the serious destruction, the capital is doing everything possible so that people have light and can survive the winter. Critical infrastructure is being restored quickly, and reserves and international aid are helping to keep the city alive in difficult conditions.
We will remind you that on Friday, February 6, 2026, NEC “Ukrenergo” will introduce schedules of hourly power outages that will operate throughout the territory of Ukraine throughout the day.
