The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaly Kim, warned of a difficult situation with electricity supply and called on Ukrainians to prepare for possible long-term power outages. According to him, the forecast for the energy system remains bad, and communities should prepare backup solutions in advance.
According to Kim, the forecast for electricity is currently negative, so Ukrainians should prepare for possible blackouts. He paid special attention to the work of communications during blackouts and the role of generators. “The forecast for electricity is bad, let’s prepare for blackouts,” the head of the region wrote.
He emphasized that administrative restrictions or road closures will not help to stabilize the situation with electricity supply. Instead, practical steps on the ground can bring real benefits. “Closing roads will not add electricity. But applications for receiving generators from communities for communication towers will help,” said Kim.
The head of the Mykolaiv region called on communities to prepare for the worst scenario now and not to postpone important decisions. According to him, the regional government itself is preparing for a difficult period. “I call on communities to prepare for a bad scenario. We are also preparing ourselves,” he added.
Earlier, on January 22, on the air of the national telethon, Vitaly Kim already warned that the situation with electricity supply in the Mykolaiv region remains critical. At that time, he noted that the residents of the region should be prepared for the most difficult option — when they can provide light for only up to two hours a day.
The difficult situation with the energy sector is recorded not only in the Mykolaiv region. Ukraine is generally under a state of emergency in the energy sector. The reasons were massive Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure, as well as severe frosts, which sharply increased the load on the system.
The combination of these factors has already led to serious interruptions with light, heating and heat supply in a number of regions. The authorities and energy companies call on Ukrainians to prepare for blackouts whenever possible and to treat the situation with understanding.
