In Kiev, a sentence was issued by a man who robbed a serviceman in the metro in March this year.
The Kyiv police communication department reported this on Facebook.
The incident occurred at Svyatoshin station when the attacker seamlessly pulled out a military case with glasses for correction of vision, the cost of which exceeded 12 thousand hryvnias.
After committing the crime, the theft quickly came out of the wagon, trying to avoid responsibility.
Law enforcement officers promptly responded to the victim’s reports and started the investigation of the offender. It was soon found that a 40-year-old resident of Kyiv region was involved in the theft, which was previously criminally prosecuted.
The police detained the suspect, seized his stolen glasses and returned them to the owner.
After conducting investigative actions, the man was suspected under Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – “Theft committed in the conditions of martial law”. The materials of criminal proceedings together with the indictment were sent to court.
During the investigation, the suspect was in custody, which made it possible to prevent possible new crimes on his part.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to five years and one month imprisonment. Such a strict sentence was made possible by aggravating circumstances – preliminary convictions and committing a crime during martial law.
We will remind, three agents of Russian military intelligence, who in 2024 undermined the car of a Ukrainian serviceman in Kharkiv, received 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
We also reported that the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court found the exchanging of the Ternopil Regional Council Mikhail Golovka guilty of requesting and receiving a bribe from a volunteer businessman.
