Within the project “Crimea. “Realities” published the story of a resident of Kherson named Iryna, who is currently serving an eleven-year prison term on charges of espionage.
As stated in the project “Crimea. Realiy”, the court found the woman guilty of transferring data on the movement and deployment of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Russian side.
According to the case materials, in 2023, the convicted woman provided information about the Ukrainian military through the Telegram channel of a Russian deputy, and was also involved in the production of socks for the soldiers of the aggressor country.
During a conversation with journalists, Iryna confirmed her pro-Russian views, noting that she respects the laws of the Russian Federation and does not consider the seizure of Kherson an occupation. She explained her position with family history, in particular her father’s service in the NKVD and the presence of relatives in Moscow. Despite her attachment to Russia, the woman remained in Ukraine, arguing that she had her own house and did not want to leave her hometown until she was detained.
Now the convict is hoping to be included in the lists for exchange in order to go to Russia. She claims to have family ties to high-ranking military officials in Moscow and plans to settle there after her release. This case is another example of the work of law enforcement agencies of Ukraine to identify and punish persons who aid the enemy in conditions of full-scale war.
We will remind, the SBU military counter-intelligence detained a Russian informer in Mykolaiv Oblast.
The SBU also exposed nine organizers of mobilization evasion schemes.
