Japan handed over 30 military cars to Ukraine

Japan handed over 30 military cars to Ukraine, Japan Ministry of Defense/Self-Defense Forces reported to Ukraine. This delivery became part of the technical assistance program to Ukraine, which started in June 2024.

Earlier, Ukraine received 101 car, including Army SUVs Toyota HMV, Mitsubishi Type 73 KOGATA and tracked engineering machines, and in February 2025 they added six more units. The current delivery is the third stage of the program.

The department noted that cars should help Ukraine in defense needs, and in addition to Tokyo technique provides non -lethal help: bulletproof vests, helmets, gas masks, as well as drones for observation. Japan also participates in international coalitions for mine minement and support for Ukraine, as well as implementing a program of rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military.

The transfer of equipment took place at the request of the Ukrainian Government and in accordance with the decision of the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers, adopted in May 2023. The Ministry of Defense of Japan has confirmed that the country would continue to support Ukraine.

Earlier, the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) transferred to the municipal enterprises of the cities of Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson and Nikolaev 97 units of heavy equipment.

Ukraine received 320 out of 1800 gabions from Japan to be used to physical protection of critical infrastructure.
