Italian Ambassador Carlo Formosa and Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba met near Kyiv the first batch of 78 industrial boilers, which is part of large-scale humanitarian aid from the Italian government. In total, the country will transfer more than 300 units of such equipment to restore damaged city networks and hospitals that suffered from deliberate Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.

This was reported by the Italian agency ANSA.

According to the ambassador, the power of the obtained boilers is enough to provide heat for approximately 90,000 private houses or an entire regional center with a population of 250,000 inhabitants.

In addition to heating equipment, Rome has begun a program to supply powerful generators to keep water systems and critical infrastructure running during blackouts. Italy also urgently allocated an additional 10 million euros for humanitarian aid within the framework of the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine. The total amount of Italian aid, aimed exclusively at the energy security of the Ukrainian population, has already exceeded 135 million euros.

This donation was the implementation of personal agreements between President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni. The Italian government emphasizes that maintaining the energy system in the middle of winter is a priority for the stability of Ukraine. Currently, a logistics operation is underway to deliver the rest of the equipment to the regions most affected by the shortage of thermal energy as a result of hostilities.

The European Union will provide Ukraine with 447 generators for communities throughout the country, which will be an important support for the stable operation of critical infrastructure in winter. It is about ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of schools, hospitals, social institutions, shelters, heating points, as well as boiler houses, water intakes, treatment facilities and artesian wells.

Previously, the Czech initiative Darek pro Putina (“A gift for Putin”) announced fundraising for generators and batteries for Kyiv and in the first two days collected 29 million Czech crowns (over a million euros).
