The head of state emphasized that the arrival of the American leader directly into Ukrainian airspace, which has remained closed to civil aviation for four years due to Russian aggression, would mean confidence in security and the possibility of counting on a permanent cessation of hostilities.

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is ready to receive the head of the White House at any time, as soon as the necessary security conditions are created.
The discussion of a possible visit intensified after the leaders’ meeting in Florida on December 28, where Donald Trump expressed his readiness to speak before the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine if it would help speed up the signing of a peace agreement and save human lives. Although the US president previously stated that his personal presence in Kyiv is not necessary for the conclusion of agreements, he did not rule out such a trip as part of the advocacy of his plan to end the war. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Trump’s arrival by plane, instead of the traditional train from Poland, would demonstrate to the world Washington’s determination to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
According to the Ukrainian president, such a step would become part of a broad diplomatic campaign planned for January 2026, when the documents on the settlement of the conflict with Russia are expected to be finalized. So far, the parties have agreed on the draft agreement by 90%, and Trump’s visit could be a decisive factor in completing the negotiation process. Zelensky expressed hope that the American side will appreciate the strategic importance of such a gesture, which would confirm the reliability of the US security guarantees and open the way to the restoration of normal air traffic and economic life in Ukraine.
