The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to rename the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories. The agency will have a new name – the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported this in Telegram.
“From the first day of the Russian invasion, unity was our main weapon. Unity within the country, unity with our partners, unity of Ukrainians around the world,” he said.
Today, December 3, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Oleksiy Chernyshov to the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine.
In addition, the government decided to rename the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories into the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine.
The new decision will help to form a new quality of work and interaction with the multi-million Ukrainian community from all waves of migration.
“The creation of the Ministry of National Unity will also contribute to the formation of a strategy on how to return Ukrainians to live and work in Ukraine. The new deputy prime minister should soon present a clear plan for the development of the ministry, a team and key KPIs,” the prime minister believes.
In August, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced the creation of the “Ministry of Unity” to unite Ukrainians abroad and counter Russian propaganda. The main mission of the department will be to support Ukrainian communities abroad, strengthen their connection with the Motherland and protect common national interests. To ensure the educational, cultural and informational needs of Ukrainians, more active participation of the state is necessary, as the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs alone are not enough, Zelenskyi explained.
Today, December 3, the Verkhovna Rada voted to appoint Oleksiy Chernyshov as Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Unity.
