The US Department of Defense has signed a $253.7 million contract with Williams International. The funds will be used to increase the production of missiles, including those used as part of military aid to Ukraine.

This is stated on the website of the Pentagon.

A contract awarded under the Defense Production Act (DPA), will enable the company Williams International to expand production capacity for the production of gas turbine engines. This is necessary to increase the volume of production of the following types of weapons:

  • anti-ship missiles Harpoon;
  • class rockets air-ground” AGM-158 JASSM;
  • long-range anti-ship missiles AGM-158C LRASM;
  • cruise missiles Tomahawk and other types of high-precision strike weapons.

Funds provided for by the Law on Additional Appropriations for Security Needs in the Indo-Pacific Region and Ukraine for 2024 are used to implement the contract.

According to the Pentagon, efforts will be aimed at increasing the production of critical materials needed to counter enemy aggression. Williams International will engage in the production of gas turbine engines for military purposes, which will make it possible to meet the growing demand for high-precision weapons and unmanned systems.

This contract was part of five awards issued by the DPAP program office since the beginning of fiscal year 2025 for a total of $290.8 million.

Joe Biden’s administration is actively increasing military aid to Ukraine. In early December, a $275 million package was approved, including:

ammunition for air defense systems NASAMS;

ammunition for HIMARS;

drones, land mines and other weapons.

Later, on December 13, the US announced a new package of 500 million dollars. It included:

ammunition for systems HIMARS;

155 mm and 105 mm caliber artillery shells;

drones and other weapons.

In the context of the US presidential election, the victory of Donald Trump may affect future arms supplies to Ukraine, as he previously stated the possibility of revising this policy.
