On December 16, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw announced the laureates of the “Polish Garden of the Righteous” for 2025.

Among the honorees are Ukrainian, hospitalist and Hero of Ukraine Iryna Tsybukh (“Cheka”), members of the German resistance movement “White Rose” Hans and Sophie Scholl, as well as Polish historian and publicist of Jewish origin Maryan Tursky.

Laureates are chosen by the Committee of the Garden of the Righteous Foundation, which includes cultural, scientific, educational figures and representatives of public organizations. The names of the righteous are announced every year on the European Day of Remembrance of the Righteous, established by the European Parliament. They are honored in the Garden of the Righteous in Warsaw, where a tree is planted in honor of each one as a symbol of the lives saved.

Presenting Iryna Tsybukh, former Polish ambassador to Ukraine Marek Zyulkowski emphasized that she personifies the culture of freedom and civic responsibility formed in Ukraine by the Maidans and the Revolution of Dignity.
