A military unit in Ukraine is currently under investigation following the arrival of approximately 2,000 mobilized individuals deemed unfit for service due to health concerns. The military ombudsman, Olha Reshetylova, disclosed this information in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Reshetylova indicated that representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Ground Forces have been engaged in the inquiry to determine the point at which a systemic failure occurred in the mobilization process. She stated, “It is essential to thoroughly examine how this situation arose and at what stage the mass violation occurred. Was it at the recruitment center, the medical commission, or within the military unit itself? Or was the decision made at a higher level?”
The ombudsman emphasized that this situation cannot merely be acknowledged as a fact, as it involves the mobilization of 2,000 individuals who are unfit for duty. “The question is how this was allowed to happen at all,” she added.
The Office of the Military Ombudsman officially commenced operations in Ukraine on January 27, aiming to address issues related to military personnel and their rights.
