On April 10, Ukrainian defense forces engaged in 173 combat encounters with Russian troops, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This surge in activity highlights the ongoing intensity of the conflict in the region.
In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, 12 clashes were reported near Prokhody and towards Mala Rybitsia. Additionally, Russian forces launched 130 artillery strikes, 33 of which involved multiple rocket launch systems (MLRS), and conducted three airstrikes utilizing seven guided aerial bombs.
In the Southern Slobozhansky direction, Russian troops attempted to advance 12 times in areas including Vovchansk, Kolodyazne, Starytsia, Zelenyi, Vovchanski Khutory, Prylipka, Lyman, and towards Hrafskyi.
Ukrainian military sources indicated that in the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 10 attempts by Russian troops to advance near Dibrova, Nadiya, Zarichne, and towards Olhivka, Stepove, Druzhliubivka, and Cherneshchyna.

Earlier in April, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the situation on the front lines is the most favorable for Ukraine in the past ten months, referencing intelligence from both Ukrainian and British sources dated April 1. He noted that a planned Russian offensive for March had been thwarted by the actions of Ukrainian forces.
According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian counterattacks in the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka directions continue to disrupt Russian efforts in the Pokrovsk area and impede the anticipated spring-summer offensive by Russia.
Russian forces initiated an offensive on Pokrovsk, a city with a pre-war population of 60,000, in February 2024, following their capture of Avdiivka, located approximately 39 kilometers southeast of Pokrovsk.
Recent reports indicate a significant increase in combat activity between Ukrainian and Russian forces, with numerous clashes and artillery strikes occurring across various fronts. Ukrainian officials assert that the current military situation is more favorable than in previous months, reflecting ongoing strategic developments in the conflict.
