In Vinnytsia, two policemen are suspected of brutally torturing a man, bringing him to clinical death, in order to “beat out” a confession of petty theft. The incident occurred in September 2023 in Vinnytsia. Two police officers are suspected of having brought the man to clinical death by physically and psychologically abusing him. The victim was suspected of petty theft, but instead of investigative methods, law enforcement officers resorted to brutal torture.
The man was beaten with fists and a rubber baton in the stomach, at the same time exerting strong psychological pressure. He was forced to confess, threatening further consequences. As a result of the beating, the man suffered severe injuries to his internal organs — doctors were forced to remove his spleen. During the operation, his heart stopped, but after ten minutes of resuscitation, the heart rhythm was restored.
According to law enforcement sources, the victim is currently under medical supervision and undergoing long-term rehabilitation. Despite the fact that he survived, the consequences of the beating left a serious physical and psychological mark.
The Prosecutor General’s Office notes that all participants in the incident are being identified in the case. “We are investigating all the circumstances of this case and establishing the involvement of other police officers,” the OGP said in a statement. Currently, the issue of reporting suspicion to another police officer who participated in the beating is being resolved.
The legal qualification of the incident is very serious. Bringing to grave consequences with the use of torture is a particularly serious crime under the Criminal Code of Ukraine and provides for severe punishment.
