The Security Service of Ukraine obtained a sentence in absentia for the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation — he was sentenced to seven years in prison.
As reported by the SBU Department in Cherkasy region, the sentence was handed down on the basis of the materials collected by the investigators.
“According to the evidence base of the SBU, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov, who supports the conduct of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, was sentenced in absentia. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property in absentia. In addition, he was deprived of the right to hold certain positions for a period of 3 years,” the message says.
The investigation established that in 2017-2024 Alikhanov headed the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. After the start of the full-scale invasion, he supplied the Russian troops with equipment, ammunition, medicines, etc.
During 2023, Alikhanov repeatedly visited the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where he personally handed over to the occupying units military equipment and other means of conducting hostilities against the Defense Forces of Ukraine, for which he was promoted to the rank of minister.
Based on the evidence gathered by the SBU, the court found him guilty under Part 3 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Financing of actions committed for the purpose of violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, change of the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine, committed by a group of persons in a prior conspiracy).
The investigation was conducted by SBU employees in Cherkasy region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor’s office.
