In Ukraine, most spiders have poisonous glands, but in most cases such poison is not threatened.
Arachnology, Doctor of Philosophy and employee of Kherson State University Anastasia Iosipchuk told this.
Dangerous for humans are those spiders that can bite the skin, but most spiders are too small for this, and their jaws are weak.
In Ukraine, only Uloboridae family (spiders) do not have poisonous glands, in our country there are three types of these spiders.
“They have reduced (lost) poisonous glands, and all other spiders they have, even very small. This is a form of their hunt, ”the specialist explained.
It is almost impossible to distinguish a poisonous spider from a non -poced spider, but only those spiders that can bite the skin, and small ones are incapable of it, are a real danger to humans.
Even large species rarely show aggression, if they do not feel threats, and even in cases with truly poisonous species, such as karakurt or southern tarantula, spiders do not behave aggressively against humans. Spiders are not the first to attack, the arachnology explained.
“Of course, if you try to crush them or grind them with your hand, spiders will be protected – and it is normal,” she added.
