In Transcarpathia, smugglers cynically joined the funeral cortege of a fallen soldier to take “clients” through checkpoints to the border. They even hung blue and yellow flags from the windows of the car.

An attempt to illegally cross the Ukrainian-Slovak border by two men of military age was exposed by operatives of the Chopsky border detachment.
“The ferrying scheme was planned by two Transcarpathians living in the border region. For a monetary reward in the amount of 18,000 US dollars, they undertook to deliver two residents of Uzhhorod to the border. The crossing of the state border was planned in the area of Knyaginya settlement of Uzhhorod district. In order to take the “clients” through the checkpoints, the transporters resorted to the most cynical idea – they pretended to be on their way as part of the funeral cortege that accompanied the body of the fallen soldier to the burial place,” the message reads.
Offenders even hung a state flag from the window of the car in which the evaders were being transported. The operatives waited until the procession ended, and then began to arrest the offenders.
“During the detention, one of the smugglers did not comply with the legal demands of the law enforcement officers to stop and attempted to run into the border guard. The “clients” of the dealer were thrown out of the car and ordered to run away. The response group, together with operatives, detained the fugitives and their smugglers and brought them to the border unit,” the message reads.
In the actions of the shippers, they see signs of a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine). A corresponding message has already been sent to the address of the Uzhhorod District Department of the National Police.
The perpetrators have already been brought to justice under Article 185-10 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Malicious disobedience to a lawful order or demand of a military serviceman or an employee of the State Border Service of Ukraine or a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border).
Earlier in Odesa, border guards stopped the activities of an international criminal group that provided services for the illegal transportation of people to Moldova. At the same time, three criminals were arrested both in the Podilsk district and in Odesa itself.
In the Volyn region, a customs officer and a railway worker were sentenced to 5 years in prison for trying to illegally smuggle a man to Poland.
